Congress Final Program [10,676 KB]

The International Astronautical Congress (IAC) is an event held annually under the wing of the International Astronautical Federation (IAF). IAF members include 162 members in aerospace professional and trade associations, national space agencies, and industrial firms in 45 countries.

Canada hosted the 55th Congress in Vancouver, October , 2004

The Canadian Aeronautic and Space Institute (CASI) is the host organisation. The Congress typically attracts up to 3000 participants and is the most multidisciplinary space-related event taking place each year. It addresses a very wide range of areas of interest to the space community touching science and exploration, applications, technology, missions and space and society.

"Infinite Possibilities, Global Realities"

In 2004, industry leaders, engineers, scientists and researchers, will gather in Vancouver to debate the theme of IAC 2004, exploring the infinite possibilities of space research and exploration within the framework of current technological, political, social and economic realities. Scientific and technical papers are solicited for 26 symposia organised through the IAF, the IAA (International Academy of Astronautics) and the IISL (International Institute of Space Law).

There are also 9 plenary sessions and 4 public lectures gathering international experts on topics of current interest. The international exhibit will feature exhibitors representing space organisations from around the world. The congress is also the stage of a very elaborated social program when the host committee is expected to showcase local features and talents.
