While the rest of the nation finishes up their summer, Oceanside has no intention of slowing down, as demonstrated in its exciting line-up of events and activities for fall 2007 2nd Annual Kayak Clean-Up The 2nd Annual Kayak Clean-Up Event at the Batiquitos Lagoon will be held on Sept. 22. A true treat for kayak enthusiasts, participants can kayak Batiquitos Lagoon to clean the water and fundraise for the lagoon foundation. O'side Turkey Trot and Pier-to-Pier run A preemptive strike against the turkey and fixings you'll have for dinner, the O'side Turkey Trot is the perfect way to start your Thanksgiving Day. Choose from Locals Only 5k, Open 5K run/walk and Pier-to-Pier Kids' Race, and get the heart pumping. The races will kick off in downtown Oceanside at the Oceanside Civic Center and end at the Oceanside Pier. With a costume contest and special Thanksgiving prizes, there's no reason not to join in the fun. Candlelight Walk for Human Rights: Protecting the Children The 19th Annual Walk for Human Rights will be held at Oceanside Pier Amphitheater on Oct. 21. Speakers share their personal experiences to raise awareness about human rights violations in this touching, important event. Volunteers and attendees can get involved and show their support by carrying a candle out on the pier. Scuba Dive October is lobster season, making it the perfect time for scuba enthusiasts to strap on a tank and meet these critters up close and personal. While exploring the world underwater, keep an eye out for the Sea Hare, a rare sea cucumber originally found in Ancient Egypt but now exclusive to Oceanside's waters.   Bike The San Luis Rey Bike Trail, approximately seven miles long, offers a fairly flat and isolated trail along the San Luis River. The Coastal Rail Trail is a bit longer, stretching 44 miles, and descends from downtown Oceanside into San Diego. Didn't pack your bike? No problem; the Dasani Blue Bike Program provides free recreational bikes.   Boat From speed boats to sail boats, Oceanside offers a plethora of choices. Hop aboard a 35 foot Catamaran for a sunset cruise or sit back and relax as the ocean draft sails you along.   Golf Enjoy coastal breezes and mild climate when playing Arrowood Golf's 6,721-yard course. With nearly all of its fairways and greens designed around protected natural habitats, the scenic backdrop will be the perfect setting for that hole-in-one.   Unwind Oceanside is proud to announce the opening of the Residence Inn by Marriott.
