Norseman
Float Plane Festival
Red Lake, Ontario, Canada
July (check for exact
date)
The Festival annually brings
together those who love flying and history and
gives them a chance to explore both in a natural
northern setting.
For Red Lake it's a chance
to share its heritage with the world and to
recognize how closely it is linked to it. For
visitors it is a chance to learn how small towns
are related to the affairs of a world wide
community.
The Festival is about small
planes and bush planes and floatplanes and the
people who fly them and their history and the
multi-faceted history of Red Lake. But everyone is
welcome and the activities show it. It's also about
reality. There is very little glitz and glamour.
Just small planes, many of them with a proud
history, still doing the work they were built for,
still serving the people who need them to get to
places a little off the beaten path.
