Hope Air Co-Founder and Executive Director Jinnie Bradshaw Becomes a Member of the Order of Canada

Hope Air is a registered Canadian Charity, founded in 1986, whose vision is to ensure that no Canadian is denied needed medical care for lack of access to air transportation. The organization arranges flights to recognized health facilities for medical care not available in the patient's home community. Since its inception, Hope Air has provided more than 45,000 flights to Canadians in need. The majority of Hope Air's aircraft seat capacity is provided by Canada's commercial airlines, led by Air Canada, WestJet Airlines and Provincial Airlines. Hope Air has also established a Volunteer Pilot Program, involving more than 200 qualified pilots who donate their time, aircraft and piloting skills, to serve communities not well covered by commercial airlines.

TORONTO,: Her Excellency the Right Honourable Adrienne Clarkson, Governor General of Canada, announced 74 new appointments to the Order of Canada yesterday, including Jinnie Bradshaw, Hope Air's Executive Director.

Recognized for Voluntary Service, Jinnie Bradshaw, of Toronto, Ontario, was one of only 54 individuals appointed to the Order of Canada as a Member. "I'm both grateful and humbled to be among so many outstanding Canadians honoured in this way," said Jinnie Bradshaw.

The quintessential volunteer, Jinnie Bradshaw has made a positive and lasting difference in the provision of health care services for patients and their families.  She has played a leading role as a founder and past president of Hope Air, a national charitable organization that provides free air transportation to Canadians in need of medical treatment or diagnosis not available in their area.

Bringing her vast experience in the voluntary and health care sectors to her role as a director of Cancer Care Ontario, the Centre for Women's Health Research and the Princess Margaret and Women's College hospitals, Jinnie Bradshaw has been an effective and tireless leader.
