Patagonia Calling
Launches Luxury Tours to Patagonia,
Argentina in North America
Patagonia,
Argentina Packages to be Promoted in North
America
Minneapolis, MN
&endash; Today, Arauquen, a tour operator
in Patagonia, Argentina, announced the
expansion of their operation into the
North American market. The operator,
running under the name Patagonia Calling,
has launched with 17 high-end packaged
tours for North Americans with focuses on
eight different travel interests:
honeymoons, luxury, adventure, golf,
cuisine and wine, ski, eco-tourism, family
and fishing. Agents selling Patagonia
Calling packaged tours will receive 13%
commission on every sale in
2006.
Patagonia Calling saw a
need to assist travelers and travel agents
in booking travel to the region, which is
extremely expansive and has a wide range
of experiential options for travelers.
Therefore, it is opening representative
offices in the United States, where
Patagonia Calling will handle all
bookings, marketing and public relations
and customer service.
Current packages will
focus on the Argentinean side of
Patagonia, where two-thirds of Patagonia
lies yet remains relatively undiscovered
by North Americans. Many operators have
focused on the Chilean side of Patagonia.
It was the motivation of the operator's
owner to ensure travelers started to get
to know the Argentinean side as
well.
"We've been seeing an
increase in American tourists to the
region, but most don't understand the
breadth of Patagonia and some of its
surrounding areas. We have managed to
craft a variety of different packaged
itineraries that give a nice overview of
some of the best Patagonia has to offer.
Additionally, we also handle FIT, group
and incentive programs as well." stated
Maximilian Diez, President and CEO of
Patagonia Calling.
Luxury, Adventure,
Exclusivity, Specialty and
Customization
Packages include
English speaking guides, domestic airfare,
most meals, and activities. In order to
ensure exclusivity and personalized
service, tours will be limited to a
maximum of six-twelve people depending on
the package. Many of the hotels on the
itineraries are small, luxury lodges which
can host, sometimes no more than 8-12
guests at a time.
Patagonia Calling is
focusing on maximizing the customer
experience. Partnering with strong and
unique hoteliers as well as specialists in
cuisine, golf, wine, and adventure sports,
the operator is setting a high priority on
providing an element of experiential
travel that will enrich the traveler's
experience. Each month, Patagonia Calling
plans to host a specialized tour. In the
month of February, they are featuring a
tour to participate in the grand opening
of Chapelco Golf & Resort, Jack
Nicklaus and Jack Nicklaus II's first
co-designed golf course in South America.
Guests will be able to walk the course
with Jack and Jack II, attend an exclusive
cocktail reception and play the course.
Additionally, the tour will be hosted by
on of South America's top golfers, Hernan
Rey.
Diez expects their
packages will be some of the most
luxurious travel options throughout
Patagonia.
"We work with only the
best hotels and lodges to provide a
top-of-the-line experience in Patagonia.
We've scrutinized every hotel and activity
within our itineraries and chose only the
best partners to provide a level of
service for our clientele which goes above
and beyond their own, already high,
standards." said Diez.
"We've been seeing a
trend with the discerning American market
that wants to meld right into the areas
they visit; yet they also want to retain
the luxuries of the traveling elite. So
we've managed to create itineraries that
get our guests close to the local culture
but ensuring comfort throughout our
voyages. By hiring excellent
English-speaking, locally-trained guides,
travelers have the unique experience of
seeing and experiencing much of what would
never accessible on a large tour. We even
have a special relationship with the
Mapuche tribe, so that we can introduce
our guests to their culture, not by
exploitation, but by simply having guests
directly interact with the Mapuche in
their own environment. Guests will learn
about their food preparation, wool weaving
methods and ancient rituals. This is one
of Patagonia's most private tribes, so we
are very careful to respect their
boundaries with outsiders." stated Emma
Fontanet, General Manager of Patagonia
Calling.
Tours will visit
several different cities within Patagonia,
Argentina like: El Calafate, San Martin de
los Andes, San Carlos de Bariloche,
Ushuaia, Villa la Angostrura and Villa
Pehuenia. Moreover, custom-crafted
itineraries can be created with both Chile
and Argentina for travelers wishing to
visit both countries. For more
