Delta
Air Lines Announces Non-Stop Service from Atlanta
to Fort-de-France
Delta
Air Lines on September 21, 2006 announced its
decision to offer non-stop service to Martinique
once a week on Saturdays between its largest hub in
Atlanta and Fort-de-France, effective December 16,
2006.
"With
the addition of service to the beautiful island of
Martinique, from December, Delta will be the only
U.S. carrier to serve a destination in the French
West Indies non-stop from the U.S. mainland," said
Glen Hauenstein &endash; Delta's executive vice
president &endash; Network Planning and Revenue
Management.
He
added, "Our customers now have an even greater
choice of a unique and exciting destination, as
Delta expands the scope or our our network
throughout the Caribbean, offering our customers
the opportunity to broaden their horizons and
explore Martinique."
Overall,
in the United States and Canada, travelers will
benefit from 97 daily one-stop connections to
destinations throughout the region, including key
business and leisure destinations such as New York,
Chicago, Montreal, Los Angeles, San Francisco,
Miami, Tampa and Orlando.
At
the exception of Los Angeles and Montréal,
Delta Air Lines is granting an average rate of $
708.00 USD round trip (additional taxes and fees to
be included) to most major cities of the United
States.
Delta
Air Lines' Boeing 737-800 aircraft will offer 16
first class and 134 economy class
seats.
Beginning
December 16, 2006, Delta's flight 409 will depart
Atlanta every Saturday at 9:45 a.m. and arrive in
Fort de France, Martinique at 3:15 p.m. The Boeing
737-800 aircraft will depart from Fort de France,
Martinique every Saturday at 4:05 p.m. and arrive
in Atlanta at 7:40 p.m. on Delta's flight
410.
Delta
said it is pleased that the addition of this new
route was made possible with the joint efforts of
the Regional Council of Martinique (Conseil
Régional) and the Martinique Tourism
Authority (Comité Martiniquais du
Tourisme).
