Air Pacific Plans Adds New Aircraft and Extends
Flight Schedule
The
Chairman of Air Pacific Limited, Mr Gerald Barrack,
CF, CBE, following its scheduled meeting today
announced the Board have agreed the future aircraft
needs of the Company.
The Board accepted a Fleet
Study and authorised negotiations with aircraft
manufacturers to acquire additional wide-bodied
aircraft in the 250-300 and 400 plus range to meet
Air Pacific's growth for the current decade and
allow retirement of the existing
B747-200.
Management will provide
detailed recommendations to the scheduled November
Board meeting with pricing options and a delivery
schedule for the selected aircraft.

has announced it will increase the number of
flights from key destinations over the coming
December and January peak period
Air Pacific
will add :
1.Two
B737-800 services between Nadi and Auckland from 01
December 2002, on Sundays and
Wednesdays.
2. Effective
04 December a Nadi/Honolulu return flight with a
B737-800 aircraft, in addition to the two
Nadi/Honolulu-Vancouver flights currently
operating.
3. Between
Nadi and Sydney from 03 December 2002 an additional
B767-300ER on Tuesdays and a B737-800 service on
Thursdays.
In addition,
from 30 November through arrangements with Qantas,
a B767-300 will operate a Saturday
Melbourne/Nadi/Melbourne service in support of the
existing three B767-300ER services operated by Air
Pacific. This flight will be crewed by and operate
as a Qantas flight on a 50/50 basis with Air
Pacific.
The Managing
Director & Chief Executive Officer of Air
Pacific, John Campbell said "Air Pacific has been
closely monitoring visitor arrivals and demand for
seats and adjusting seat capacity as required
throughout 2002. The latest adjustments provide
almost 20,000 additional seats over the peak
period.
In addition
to meeting visitor demand, Fiji's export
opportunities will be enhanced with peak seasonal
demand for Fiji food products over the festive
season in Australia and New Zealand. Demand will
continue to be closely monitored and if there is
reason to extend the additional flights beyond
January that will be done, he said."
